Body Accessories

Armbands, belts, girdles, and leglets are among the typical traditional body adornments in Northern Luzon, specifically in the Cordillera and Caraballo mountains. These body accessories are skillfully crafted through intricate wickerwork, wood carving, and beadworking. The complexity of adornments is a social marker that reflects the affluent status of its wearer. Adornments also are used as amulets, as protection from the malevolent spirits.
