Storage and Containers
In the Cordillera, baskets come in different forms and sizes. The features also reflect on the kind of function they serve for the people. Baskets are commonly used as storage and containers for a wide variety of items, such as rice grains, root crops, meat; and even delicate items such as beads, brass ornaments and needles. The technique of basket weave also reinforced and incorporated into many crafts such as in woodcarving, ornamentation, and ceramics and clay jars. They are vital in Cordilleran traditions such as in the basket’s use in agriculture: winnowing trays, container baskets, food storage, jar covers, potholders, and rice wine dippers.
