These two meat cutters have metal blades with carved wooden stands that feature abstracted animal shapes.

RESEARCH DATA:

The pang-iwa are meat-cutters with wooden stands. Some variants like these two from the collection have zoomorphic carvings. Their blades are composed of forged metal with an upward-facing sharp edge. Meat-cutters like these were commonly found in the Mountain Province used by the Bontoc and Kankana-ey (Anderson, 2010).
