RESEARCH DATA:

These miniature versions of kinahu were exclusively used as spice servers. Such bowls with zoomorphic appendages are commonly found in Ifugao. The term kinahu means ‘‘in the shape of a beast” (Anderson, 2010). However, the term came from the root word ahu which is directly translated as “ dog” in Ifugao. Therefore, the term kinahu literally means “in the shape of a dog” or “dog-like shape.”
