RESEARCH DATA:

Numerous Ifugao flat ladles feature distinctive designs, and one notable motif is the incorporation of the hagabi (prestige bench) design carved on the handles. Flat ladles adorned with this design were formerly possessed by the kadangyan, or upper-class members of the Ifugao traditional community. Similar to their more conventional counterparts, these hagabi-inspired inadu were employed for both daily activities and rituals, including their use in food preparation, as highlighted by Anderson in 2010.
