Woodcarving

In the Cordillera, the various ethnolinguistic groups are renowned for their woodcarving tradition. The use of solid wood materials from their environment had been utilized for various purposes: for rituals and utilitarian use. The local aesthetics can be seen in the artifacts adorned with unique motifs, designs, with complex meanings and symbolism. They also reflect Cordillera beliefs, ingenuity, practicality, and creativity, as evident in anthropomorphic, zoomorphic, and abstract figure carvings.
