Ornaments
Ornaments are part of the Cordillera culture in Northern Luzon. Body ornamentation has been a prevalent and important aspect of cultures in the region, to connote distinctive cultural markers, aesthetics, status and identity. They complement the permanent bodily markings such as tattoos found on the skin. For instance, adornments such as beads, armbands, necklaces, and earrings made of intricate and diverse designs. They are made from a selection of materials such as animal teeth and tusks, beads, hard wood, metals, shells, and rattan. The presence of these sturdy materials is indicative of the craftsmanship and resourcefulness of the local artisans, as well as the vital presence of interaction, exchange, and trade among various ethnic groups in Northern Luzon and other groups outside the region.
